What You’ll Love About Chicken Apple Sausage Sheet Pan Meal:

  • Easy weeknight recipe
  • Fast clean-up
  • Delicious smoky flavors
  • Healthy and satisfying

One of my favorite meals growing up was smoked sausage and onions. My mom would make a big pan and serve it with baked or mashed potatoes. I was always drawn right to the kitchen when the sausage and onions hit the skillet.

My Chicken Apple Sausage Sheet Pan Meal is a wonderful reminder of my childhood, and my family loves the flavors of this one-pan-supper. It has everything to complete a healthy nutritious dinner, and with the busy fall season ahead of us, this will definitely be on rotation.

I love the flavors of smoked sausage. It adds warmth and coziness to any dish which is perfect for the fall season. Try my Smoked Sausage Soup with Potatoes, and Pierogi and Smoked Sausage Skillet Meal for a comforting meal.

Simple Ingredients:

  • Chicken apple sausage– I like to use Aidells chicken apple sausage for a healthier option.
  • Bell peppers– I use a variety of red, yellow, and orange bell peppers.
  • Onion– Use a yellow or sweet onion.
  • Baby potatoes- I like using baby potatoes because they have a creamier interior and you don’t need to peel them.
  • Olive oil- This will help caramelize the chicken and veggies.
  • Parsley- Adds a touch of freshness.

Substitutions:

Chicken sausage- There are a lot of different brands and flavors of chicken sausage. Use your favorite flavor for this recipe. Any smoked sausage will work great.

Veggies- Use other veggies like mushrooms, zucchini, broccoli, or cherry tomatoes.

Seasonings- Other spices and seasonings that work great are onion powder, dried thyme, chili powder, ground cumin, cayenne pepper.

How To Make Chicken Apple Sausage Sheet Pan Meal:

See full instructions in recipe card below

  1. Step One. Preheat oven to 425℉ and line a large sheet pan with parchment paper or foil.
  2. Step Two. In a large bowl combine prepared sausage and veggies with olive oil and seasonings.
  3. Step Three. Add mixture to your sheet pan in an even layer.

Step Four. Place in a preheated oven and roast for 40-minutes turning halfway through. Sprinkle with fresh parsley and serve!

Recipe Tip:

  • To get those dark charred bits you can place under the broiler after the cooking time for 1-2 minutes. My oven type at 425℉ for exactly 40-minutes gives it the perfect amount of caramelization. Each oven is different so use your best judgment.

Common Questions:

🗨What can I serve with this sheet pan meal?

We find this to be a satisfying meal on its own, however, a simple green salad, or slices of fresh tomatoes and cucumbers would be perfect on the side.

🗨Can I add other veggies?

Definitely! Just keep in mind that all veggies cook differently. For instance- if you wanted to use broccoli or zucchini, add it the last 20-minutes of cooking time rather than the full 40-minutes. The softer the veggie, the less time it will take to cook. See recipe notes for vegetable options and cooking times.

This was such a delicious combination and one of the easiest recipes I’ve made. My family loved it and the left overs warmed up with some scrambled eggs, cheese and sliced cherry tomatoes was awesome as well!! I’ll definitely make it again..❤️PS. Cleanup was quick !

This was excellent, and so fast and easy! The ibly thing I would change is to reduce the black pepper–1 tsp was quite spicy!

I’m so glad you enjoyed it! My family loves black pepper (especially my hubby) so I usually add a bit more. I will definitely modify in the recipe notes. Thank you for the kind review!

I’m a sheet pan-aholic though I’ve never tried this particular sausage until now. Fabulous!!!! I typically use smoked sausage, kielbasa, etc but my daughter told me she loves this sausage so I grabbed a few pkgs and then said to myself, ‘now to find a recipe for them!’ Sheet pan was a no brainer so I thank you and commend you!!! Yum!!!!!! 🙂 👏👏👏👏👏

Wow! This recipe ticks all the boxes! Healthy, easy, DELICIOUS! Made this tonight and my husband and I devoured it. It says it serves four but….. too good to save for leftovers! I served it with a side of arugula on the plate with goat cheese, olive oil and lemon.
