I’ve used ranch mix for years in my cooking to help enhance the flavor of many dishes. I actually have quite a few recipes here on my site using those convenient little store-brand packets. No shame here! Ranch is a classic American favorite that is best known for its creamy dips and dressings. But did you know that it is also wonderful for flavoring soups, casseroles, and seasoning any kind of meat, potatoes, and veggies? I guess you could call it an all-purpose seasoning in my home.

When I discovered how easy it was to make at home and how much better it tastes, I keep a jar on hand at all times. What I love about my Homemade Ranch Seasoning Mix is how simple the ingredients are. I use basic pantry seasonings and can whip up a batch in like 5-minutes. It keeps fresh for 12-months or more, thanks to this dairy-free version.

Ingredients For Homemade Ranch Seasoning Mix:

  • Dried parsley
  • Dried dill weed
  • Dried chives
  • Garlic powder
  • Onion powder
  • Salt & pepper

Make sure Dried Herbs and Seasonings are Fresh:

For best results, dried herbs and seasonings will be the most aromatic and vibrant in color, within the first 6-months of purchase.

Easy Step by Step Instructions:

Step 1. Add all the ingredients to a mason jar with a fitted lid and shake well to combine.

Step 2. This is optional- Pulse ingredients in a mini-food processor, or use a mortal and pestle. This will ensure the seasonings are completely combined and won’t separate.

Using Homemade Ranch Seasoning Mix:

  1. Ranch dressing– Mix 2 tablespoons of ranch mix (or to taste) with 1/2 cup mayo, 2 tablespoons sour cream, 1/2 cup regular milk or buttermilk, and a squeeze of fresh lemon juice. Add to a large jar and shake until creamy. Drizzle on your favorite greens.
  2. Ranch dip- Mix 1 cup sour cream or full-fat Greek yogurt with 2 tablespoons ranch seasoning mix (or to taste). Serve with veggies, potato chips, chicken strips, and so much more!
  3. Use as a seasoning- Sprinkle ranch mix on chicken, pork, veggies, popcorn, or use to enhance the flavor in soups and casseroles.

Dairy Free Option:

This seasoning is naturally dairy-free so use with your favorite (df) milk, sour cream, and mayo.

Storing Homemade Ranch Seasoning Mix:

Use an airtight container (I like using 8 oz mason jars) and store in the pantry or spice cabinet for 12-months or more. No need to keep refrigerated!
