Jump to RecipeWe usually have lots of kiddos at our holiday gatherings and some adults that don’t drink alcohol. I love having a stunning non-alcoholic drink option that everyone can enjoy. This Non-Alcoholic Christmas Sangria is colorful and has a bright fresh flavor. It is also super easy to make. This is a great drink to let your kids help get involved. This allows them to be part of the special holiday preparations.
Nothing says Christmas like a beautiful red drink filled with fruit and fresh green herbs. I use in-season fruit like oranges, apples, pears, and cranberries. Depending on my mood, fresh mint or rosemary adds a nice green touch.
I love to serve a drink like this in a clear pitcher so you can see all the colors. Ps.. The dollar store is a great place to pick up inexpensive glass or plastic stemware. Everyone will feel fancy and special when they try this Christmas Sangria!
What Is Sangria?
Traditional sangria is made with red or white wine that’s been infused with lots of fruit, and sometimes juice and/or other spirits. This usually requires several hours to allow the fruit time to flavor the wine.
Thanks to the already flavored and sweetened juice, Non-Alcoholic Christmas Sangria can be made just 1 hour before serving so it’s great for a last minute idea.
Ingredients for Non-Alcoholic Christmas Sangria:
- Cranberry juice cocktail
- Orange juice (no pulp)
- Chilled Cran-apple sparkling cider (such as Martinelli’s) or flavored sparkling water for a less sweet sangria
- Fresh fruit – Orange, apple, pear, and cranberries
- Fresh Herbs – Mint or rosemary
Sangria is easily customizable. Other fruits that work well with Christmas Sangria are fresh raspberries, blackberries, strawberries, limes, lemons, plums, and peaches.
Can I Use Frozen Fruit?
Frozen fruit is a great option if you really want to keep it easy. However, frozen fruit doesn’t hold up as well as fresh fruit in the sangria mix.
How To Make Christmas Sangria:
Step 1. Start by washing and slicing the fruit to desired size and place in a large clear pitcher.
Step 2. Add both the cranberry and orange juice and stir. Chill for at least 1 hour in the refrigerator.
Step 3. Pour in chilled sparkling cider or sparkling water, stir, and top off with fresh mint or rosemary.
How Far In Advance Can I Make Christmas Sangria?
The longer Non-Alcoholic Sangria sets the sweeter it gets. I prefer to make this no more than 5 hours in advance.
Serving Tips:
- Serve sangria in a clear tall pitcher so everyone can see all the fruit and colors.
- Set up a designated drink area and let everyone serve themselves. Have extra fruit slices, cranberries, and herbs, to add to individual glasses.
- Set out wine and champagne for those that want to add a splash to their Christmas Sangria.
- For a less sweet sangria, use a flavored sparkling water like lemon lime or other flavors you might like.
