Roasted Maple Bacon

Roasted Maple Bacon

Roasted Maple Bacon is oven baked with only two ingredients and two easy steps. You won’t want to make bacon any other way! It’s smoky, sweet, sticky, and delicious.

What You’ll Love About Roasted Maple Bacon:

  • Simple ingredients
  • Easy clean-up
  • Deliciously crisp, sticky and sweet
  • It’s bacon. What’s not to love

I haven’t met a salty piece of bacon I didn’t enjoy but this Roasted Maple Bacon wins my heart over every single time. It is completely and whole heartedly irresistibly delicious. Nothing beats it!

This simple 2-ingredient recipe has been a staple on our Christmas brunch table for over 10 years. I’m pretty sure my family would be offended if the house wasn’t scented with maple bacon roasting in the oven on Christmas morning. That and my Cinnamon Rolls From Heaven.

I love the way the maple syrup caramelizes over the smoky bacon and creates a sticky and slightly sweet taste. It’s chewy and crisp around the edges. Total bacon perfection!

Let me show you how easy it is!

2-Simple Ingredients:

Ingredients list, thick bacon, and pure maple syrup.
  • Bacon- Make sure to choose a quality bacon and thick cut. A meaty center cut bacon is also great.
  • Maple syrup- I like to use pure maple syrup, however, I have used imitation maple syrup (such as Aunt Jemima) in a pinch, and it still comes out great.

This recipe is straight forward and there really isn’t any substitutions or variations. Find a good quality thick cut bacon, some maple syrup, and you’re all set!

2-Easy Steps:

See full instructions in recipe card below

Step One. Heat oven to 400℉. Line a large sheet pan with foil, then place a baking rack on top. Place slices of bacon as close as possible on top of the rack. Roast for 20-minutes.

Large sheet pan lined with foil, then a baking rack over the top with slices of bacon.

Step Two. After the first roasting time, brush each bacon slice with maple syrup then place back in the oven for 7-minutes or until desired crispness.

Recipe Tips:

  • đź’ˇOven temperatures may vary. It’s important to note that each oven temperature is going to be different so adjust your time accordingly depending on how crispy you want your bacon. Start checking at the 15-minute roasting time for doneness.
  • đź’ˇBe generous with the syrup. You want to make sure there is plenty of maple syrup on the bacon so it gets nice and sticky. Don’t be shy. Add plenty.

Common Questions:

đź—¨Is roasting bacon in the oven better than cooking it on the stove?

I find roasting bacon in the oven to be less messy, no splatters, and my home doesn’t get smoky from cooking it on the stove. Another bonus is the bacon will cook flat and not curl up when you roast it in the oven. Bacon is delicious no matter how you choose to cook it but I love the oven method.

đź—¨If I use turkey bacon will I have the same results?

I have used turkey bacon with this method and it comes out delicious. However, turkey bacon is very lean and can easily dry out in the oven. You may want to adjust your cooking time.

đź—¨Is bacon still good reheated?

Yes! If you happen to have leftovers (which isn’t likely) you can reheat your leftover bacon, that has been stored in the refrigerator, and place on a microwave safe plate for 15-20 seconds or until desired doneness.
