How To Make Roasted Sweet Potatoes with Brown Sugar
You’ll find the detailed instructions in the recipe card below, otherwise, here are the basics.
- Prepare sweet potatoes and place them in a bowl with melted butter, brown sugar, spices, and fresh thyme. Give them a good toss.
- Spread potatoes out on a sheet pan lined with parchment paper.
- Roast in the oven for 30-35 minutes tossing once.

Ang’s Helpful Tips
Choosing the Right Sweet Potatoes– Look for firm, smooth-skinned sweet potatoes with a deep orange color. They are naturally sweeter and roast beautifully.
Don’t Overcrowd the Pan– Crowding causes steaming, not roasting. Use two pans if needed for maximum caramelization.
Make Ahead– You can peel and cube the sweet potatoes a day ahead. Store them in a sealed container in the fridge, then roast when ready.
