What You’ll Love About Sheet Pan Hawaiian Chicken:
- Fresh Hawaiian flavors
- Under 45-minute meal
- Healthy and delicious
- Easy clean-up
Sheet pan meals will forever be my favorite way to prepare a meal. There is something so satisfying about assembling ingredients on a baking sheet and letting the oven do all the work. No babysitting anything at the stove. The flavors in the oven have a chance to marry together so you have delicious results every time. Sheet pan suppers are also known for their easy clean-up, and what mom (or dad) doesn’t love a that!
This Sheet Pan Hawaiian Chicken is a winner dinner with my family. The ingredients are simple, yet fresh and healthy, and the two ingredient Hawaiian sauce has the perfect smoky, sweet, and savory flavors.
My Pineapple BBQ Chicken Foil Pack offers similar flavors in convenient foil packs. Another easy, breezy clean-up dinner!
Simple Ingredients:
- Chicken breast– For a healthier and leaner meal I like to use chicken breast meat.
- Veggies- Bell peppers (any color) and red onion
- Fresh pineapple– I use fresh pineapple chunks.
- Hawaiian sauce– I use a combination of store-brand BBQ sauce and Teriyaki sauce.
- Cilantro & Sesame seeds– Use to garnish after it’s baked.
- Kosher Salt– Just to taste.
Substitutions or Variations:
- Chicken– If you prefer dark meat chicken use boneless skinless chicken thighs. Make sure to trim the excess fat around the edges.
- Veggies– Add other veggies like zucchini slices or broccoli florets.
- Pineapple– If you don’t have the option to buy fresh pineapple use a quality brand of canned pineapple chunks. Make sure to drain the liquid well.
What Can I Serve With Hawaiian Chicken?
My favorite way to serve this sheet pan meal is with my Cilantro Lime Rice or try my Easy Coconut Rice. This would also be great over cauliflower rice if you’re trying to watch a few carbs.
How To Make Sheet Pan Hawaiian Chicken:
See full instructions in recipe card below
Step One. Preheat oven to 375℉ and line a large sheet pan (Amazon Affiliate link) with parchment paper.
Step Two. In a small bowl combine BBQ sauce and Teriyaki sauce.
Step Three. To a large bowl add diced peppers, onions, and chicken pieces. Pour half of the sauce over the chicken and the veggies and toss until well coated. Spread mixture out evenly onto to prepared sheet pan.
Step Four. Place in the oven and bake for 20-minutes. Toss the pineapple pieces in with the chicken and peppers and place back in the oven for 10-15 more minutes or until chicken is cooked through. Top with sesame seeds and cilantro, and serve with extra sauce.
Recipe Tip:
- To get a little more browning on the veggies and chicken, place under the broiler after it’s finished baking for 1-2 minutes.
Common Questions:
Saves time cooking everything on one pan and the oven does most of the work for you. Sheet pan meals are easy to clean-up and there are so many great combinations to choose from.
You want to make sure there is plenty of moisture on the chicken before it goes in the hot oven, and depending on the size of your chicken pieces, you’ll want to check for doneness after the first 20-minutes.
This could be due to the size or quality of your pan. Thinner pans warp easier because the metal expands due to hot and cold temperatures. These are my favorite sheet pans (Amazon Affiliate Link) that don’t warp.
