I love meal prepping chicken over the weekend to make meals a little easier during the week. This usually consist of simple seasoned chicken breasts slow cooked in the crockpot. It's super handy to have this on hand!
This Greek chicken made with chicken breasts, yogurt, garlic, and lemon juice might not sound like a lot, but it's truly some of the best slow cooker chicken we've ever had. It has a fresh zippy flavor and the yogurt sauce is cool and refreshing. My new go-to for weekly meal prep!
You will really appreciate all the ways this chicken can be used for a fantastic meal. Serve over your favorite rice, quinoa, or buttered noodles. Make sandwiches, use in pita bread, or serve over a bed of greens for a simple healthy lunch. So many options and so delicious!

Can I use regular plain yogurt?
The star of this chicken dish is the yogurt sauce. For this recipe it's important to use plain, full-fat Greek yogurt for the best flavor. Regular yogurt cooks down to thin and won't have the same richness.
Simple cooking steps:
Step 1. Combine the yogurt, garlic, lemon zest, juice, and salt in a small bowl.
Step 2. Add chicken to your slow cooker along with more fresh garlic. Use enough yogurt sauce to coat chicken on both sides.
Step 3. Place the lid on and cook on high for 3-4 hours or until chicken easily shreds with a fork.
Step 4. Once chicken is cooked remove and shred. Pour out most of the cooking liquid then transfer the chicken back to your slow cooker. Stir in a little more yogurt sauce and serve with fresh lemon slices and additional yogurt sauce.
How long will Greek Chicken last in the refrigerator?
This chicken will last 3-4 days in a sealed container in the refrigerator. If freezing the chicken I find it best used within 1-month.
My favorite way to use Slow Cooker Greek Chicken:
This chicken is awesome in warmed pita bread with fresh cucumber slices, red onion, and tomatoes. Top with more yogurt sauce and you have a fantastically delicious lunch or light dinner.
If you love making bowls this chicken is perfect for a Greek inspired bowl. Simply add your favorite cooked rice to a bowl and top with Greek chicken and fresh ingredients like cucumbers, tomatoes, Kalamata olives, and feta cheese. Drizzle more yogurt sauce on top and serve with fresh lemon slices. So yummy!
