Simple Ingredients:

Ingredients for sweet breakfast waffle nachos. Fresh fruit, waffles, mini chocolate chips, vanilla yogurt, toasted sliced almonds, cool whip.
  • Waffles– I use prepared store brand frozen waffles. I love the Kodiak brand for extra protein.
  • Vanilla bean yogurt– You’ll want to use regular yogurt instead of Greek yogurt because it’s much thinner and easier to drizzle over the waffle nachos.
  • Chocolate chips- I like to use mini chocolate chips. It adds a touch of chocolaty flavor with each bite.
  • Fresh fruit- Strawberries, blueberries, and raspberries.
  • Almonds– Sliced toasted almonds offer a light crunch.
  • Whipped cream- I like to use cool whip. It’s light and fluffy.

Other Toppings:

  • This recipe is fun because you can really get creative with the toppings. Use your favorite yogurt- strawberry, blueberry, lemon curd, peach. I went with classic vanilla. Other fresh fruit options include, bananas, blackberries, kiwi, mangos, and pineapple. Add toasted nuts like pecans or walnuts, or set out granola. You can also finish with maple syrup, honey, chocolate sauce, or your favorite nut butter. Seriously the toppings are endless!

Tips:

  • đź’ˇUse fresh fruit- The best part about these waffle nachos is the fresh fruit. Even if you’re in a season where fruit like blueberries and strawberries are not available, use other year round fruit like bananas, apples, and grapes.
  • đź’ˇAdd toppings just before serving- To keep the ingredients fresh and avoid sogginess, add toppings just before serving. Leave items off like syrups and cool whip and let everyone add their own.

Common Questions:

đź—¨Can I use homemade waffles?

Yes! Just make sure you cook the waffles until crisp on the outside for the best texture. Crispier waffle nachos will hold up better with the toppings.

đź—¨Can I make waffle nachos ahead of time?

It is not recommended to make waffle nachos ahead of time. Prepare and serve right away for the best texture and freshness.

đź—¨What is the best way to serve waffle nachos for a crowd?

Set up a toppings bar with different fruits, yogurts, sauces, granola, ect. Have waffle pieces prepared on a platter and set out plates so everyone can customize their own waffle nachos.
