Ingredients for The Best Crack Green Beans

You can find all the measurements for the ingredients in the recipe card below.

Ingredients displayed for The best crack green beans. Canned green beans, brown sugar, soy sauce, butter, cooked bacon strips, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, salt and pepper.
  • Bacon- Thick cut bacon works really well in this recipe.
  • Canned green beans– We like to use the short-cut beans because they hold up well during the baking time.
  • Butter
  • Brown sugar
  • Soy sauce– Make sure it’s low-sodium.
  • Pantry seasonings- Garlic powder, onion powder paprika, salt and pepper

Feel free to use fresh or canned green beans, but I like canned since they’re quick, easy, and affordable. You really can’t go wrong especially when bacon is involved.

How To Make Crack Green Beans

Other than cooking the bacon, this dish takes almost no time to throw together.

  1. Cook bacon until crisp. I like there to be a little chew as the bacon will continue to cook in the oven with the beans.
  2. Combine the butter sauce, by stirring together butter, brown sugar, soy sauce, and seasonings in a small bowl.
  3. Assemble the beans in a baking dish and toss with the butter sauce. Top with cooked bacon pieces and bake in the oven for 35-40 minutes.

Ang’s Tips and Suggestions

  • Fresh Green Beans: If using fresh green beans, blanch them for 5 minutes in boiling water and drain before baking. This helps keep them tender but not mushy.
  • Gluten-Free Option: Swap the soy sauce for coconut aminos or tamari for a completely gluten-free version.
  • Make it Spicy: Add a pinch of cayenne or crushed red pepper flakes to the butter sauce for a sweet-and-spicy twist.

I love sneaking in a recipe that surprises guests, and trust me, once they try these sweet and savory green beans with bacon, everyone will be asking for the recipe.
