My obsession with Chex party mix continues with my new and festive White Christmas Chex Party Mix. A mixture of cereal, bugles, pretzels, and peanuts, then tossed with chocolaty M&M’s candies, crushed peppermint, and melted Ghirardelli white chocolate, oh my!
This is the ultimate holiday snack you won’t be able to keep your hands out of. It hits every sensory for something crunchy, sweet, and salty, and the perfect treat to share with your friends and family this season.
The best part about white Christmas Chex party mix is how simple and fast it comes together. Dump the ingredients in a large pan or bowl, toss it with some melted white chocolate and that’s it. No baking and clean-up is a cinch!
I love Chex mix so much I should probably start a separate page for all my variations. You can’t go wrong with the classic Oven Baked Chex Party Mix, or try my Sweet Heat Texas Trash for a little kick.
Simple Ingredients:
- Crunchy ingredients- Rice Chex cereal, golden grahams cereal, plain bugles, pretzels, and roasted peanuts.
- Candy- Mini chocolate M&M’s, and crushed peppermint candy.
- White chocolate- I like to use the good stuff. Ghirardelli vanilla flavored melting wafers has delicious flavor and melts perfectly.
Substitutions and variations:
- Other add-ins to try- Corn or wheat Chex, cheerios, oyster crackers, plain bagel crisps, almonds, cashews, or other nuts you enjoy.
- Candy– Have fun with the seasonal candy but I wouldn’t do more than 3 because the white chocolate is already sweet.
- Chocolate– If you don’t care for white chocolate you can use milk chocolate wafers instead. Although it will look completely different it will still taste amazing.
How To Make White Christmas Chex Party Mix:
See full instructions in recipe card below
Step One. To a large bowl or pan combine the cereals, bugles, pretzels, and peanuts.
Step Two. In a medium size microwave safe bowl, microwave white chocolate on high in 30-second intervals until melted and chocolate is smooth.
Step Three. Pour melted chocolate over cereal mixture and gently, but quickly, toss until ingredients are coated. Add candy and toss again.
Step Four. Transfer mixture to a large sheet pan with parchment paper and spread out in a single layer to set and completely cool. Store in a sealed container in a dry place.
Recipe Tips:
- đź’ˇUse a large baking dish or disposable baking dish for mixing. Using a baking dish gives you a wider area to mix the ingredients and prevent breaking the cereal and bugles. A disposable dish is nice for easy clean-up.
- đź’ˇWork quickly when mixing the white chocolate with the cereal mixture. After the white chocolate is poured over the mixture it will harden quickly. Make sure to stir immediately and quickly, trying not to crush the cereal and bugles. Add the candies right away while the chocolate is still soft.
- đź’ˇBe careful not to overcook the white chocolate. Microwave the chocolate no more than 30-seconds between each stir just until melted. You don’t want it to come to a boil.
Common Questions:
This party mix will stay fresh for up to a week or longer in a sealed container. You can also pop it in the fridge for even longer.
Yes! This freezes really well. Place in a single layer in a freezer safe bag so you can lay it flat. Freeze for up to 3 months.
That really depends on the cost of the ingredients you use but generally you will get more for your buck if you make it homemade.
