Asian Lettuce Wraps

Asian Lettuce Wraps are a quick 30-minute meal packed with lots of fresh veggies, lean ground turkey, and a simple 4 ingredient sauce. A dinner you can feel good about feeding your family.

Ingredients
  

Meat and veggies

  • 1 pound lean ground turkey I use 93% lean, 7% fat
  • 1 1/2 tbsp toasted sesame oil
  • 1/2 cup shredded carrots
  • 6 oz button mushrooms chopped super fine
  • 1 8 oz can diced water chestnuts, drained
  • 1/2 red bell pepper, sliced in thin strips
  • 1 garlic clove, minced
  • 1 head of butter lettuce or iceberg
  • 3 green onions sliced thin
  • toasted sesame seeds for sprinkling on top

Sauce

  • 3 tbsp hoisin sauce
  • 2 tbsp low sodium soy sauce
  • 1 1/2 tbsp seasoned rice vinegar
  • 2 tsp siracha

Instructions
 

Have all ingredients prepared and ready to go before you begin the cooking process. This cooks up quickly.

  • In a small bowl combine hoisin sauce, soy sauce, rice vinegar, and siracha. Set aside.
  • In a large skillet heat the sesame oil over medium heat and add ground turkey. Cook and crumble until no longer pink.
  • Add carrots, mushrooms, chestnuts, bell pepper, garlic, and half of the green onion. Cook stirring often until veggies and mushrooms are tender, about 5-6 minutes.
  • Pour sauce over the meat and veggies and cook another 2-3 minutes until sauce thickens. Serve in whole lettuce leaves and top with fresh green onion and sesame seeds.

Tips:
Additional ways to serve lettuce wraps-
We love to have extra toppings like siracha, soy sauce, and hot mustard on hand to add to our individual lettuce wraps.  
Great recipe for company-
Invite a few friends over for a fun lettuce wrap experience. Make sure to have lots of extra toppings set out so everyone can create their own best lettuce wrap.  
Other meat that works great in lettuce wraps- 
If you don’t like turkey you could swap it out for ground beef, chicken, or pork. Small cooked chicken pieces would also be great in these lettuce wraps. 
Veggies-
Add in other veggies that you might enjoy like broccoli, zucchini, and shredded cabbage. You could even make this meatless and just add in more of what you love. It’s a super easy meal to substitute and make it your own.
Sauce- 
This is not a super saucy meat and veggie filling but you can definitely double the recipe depending on your taste. If I’m adding more veggies in addition to the recipe ingredients I usually make more sauce.
