Jump to RecipeI am always thrilled to share my recipes with you but I might be a tad more excited about these Crispy Chicken Patties. This recipe turned out to be a total slam dunk with my family, which makes me happy, because they’re versatile and so easy to make.
Up until a few months ago I was buying frozen patties from the grocery store but not anymore! If there is ever a recipe to make from scratch these chicken patties are it! These have great flavor, they are juicy and tender on the inside, and the crunch factor is just how a crispy chicken patty should be.
The best part about these Crispy Chicken Patties is how versatile they are. If you want an incredible crispy chicken burger, these patties will not disappoint. These make a great appetizer, an easy protein to any side dish. They’re also great diced up for tacos, burritos, and lunch wraps.
Ingredients For Crispy Chicken Patties:
- Uncooked chicken breast (or a combo of dark and white meat)
- Egg
- Greek yogurt (or mayo)
- Olive or avocado oil
- Seasonings– salt, pepper, onion powder, Italian seasoning, cayenne pepper, paprika, dried parsley
- Panko bread crumbs
Variations:
- Make spicy chicken patties by adding additional cayenne pepper or your favorite hot sauce.
- Add other spices and herbs like chili powder, oregano, ranch seasoning mix, garlic powder, etc.
- Mix parmesan cheese with the panko crumb mixture for a nutty flavor.
Step by Step How To Make Crispy Chicken Patties:
Step 1. Add cubed chicken to a food processor and pulse until there are no large pieces. Add the egg, yogurt, onion powder, Italian seasoning, cayenne pepper, salt and pepper. Pulse a few more times just until combined and it looks similar to ground meat. Form into 1/4-inch patties.
Step 2. In a medium shallow bowl combine panko crumbs, paprika, dried parsley, salt and pepper.
Step 3. Coat each chicken patty lightly with panko mixture.
Step 4. Heat oil in a large skillet (preferably non-stick or cast iron) to medium heat. Brown patties about 4-5 minutes per side or until cooked through. Place on a paper towel lined plate to drain excess oil.
Freeze Cooked or Uncooked Chicken Patties:
One of the reasons I love making these is they freeze so well. I keep a stock in the freezer and we love how convenient they are. If you have the extra time to cook them first before freezing, this will make one fast dinner idea- just re-heat in the oven until heated through. They come out crispy and still juicy on the inside. Of course they can be frozen uncooked and dinner will still be a breeze.
Ideas For Using Crispy Chicken Patties:
- Eat plain with your favorite dipping sauce and side dish.
- Make a crispy chicken burger with a bun or lettuce wrap.
- Slice into strips for a crispy chicken salad.
- Dice up and place in tacos, burritos, or a lunch wrap.
Pro Tips:
- Remove excess liquid and moisture from chicken before adding it to the food processor. This will help shape the chicken patties much easier.
- Moisten hands with water or spray with non-stick cooking spray before forming chicken patties to keep the mixture from sticking to your hands.
- Use a large sheet pan sprayed with non-stick cooking spray or parchment paper to keep patties from sticking together.

Crispy Chicken Patties
Ingredients
- 2 uncooked large boneless skinless chicken breasts cut into 2 inch cubes, about 2 1/2 cups
- 1 egg
- 2 tbsp plain full-fat Greek yogurt or mayo
- 1 1/2 tsp kosher salt, divided
- 3/4 tsp black pepper, divided
- 1/4 tsp onion powder
- 1/2 tsp Italian seasoning
- 1/8 tsp cayenne pepper optional
- 1/4 tsp paprika
- 1/2 tsp dried parsley
- 1 cup panko bread crumbs
- olive or avocado oil
Instructions
- In a shallow bowl or large plate combine panko crumbs 1/2 tsp salt, 1/4 tsp pepper, paprika, and dried parsley. Set aside.
- To a food processor add cubed chicken. Pulse until you don't see any large chunks. Scrape down the sides then add the egg, yogurt or mayo, 1 tsp salt, 1/2 tsp pepper, onion powder, Italian seasoning, and cayenne pepper. Pulse until well combined and it looks a bit like ground meat.
- Use an ice cream scoop or large spoon to scoop out about 1/2 cup of chicken mixture. Form into patties, about 1/4 inch thick.
- Place chicken patty in panko mixture and press down lightly on both sides to just coat the top surface. Repeat with the rest of the patties.
- Heat a large skillet (preferably non-stick) to medium heat. Add about 2-3 tablespoons of oil. Gently place chicken patties in hot skillet making sure not to over crowd the pan. I usually have to do this in 2 batches. Cook 4-5 minutes per side until deep golden brown and chicken is cooked through. Transfer cooked patties to a plate lined with paper towels to drain excess oil. Serve and enjoy!
