Substitute with other Mix-Ins:

Chex party mix is an easy recipe to add your favorite mix-ins. Of course the foundation of this beloved snack food is Chex cereal. Other ingredients that work well are- bagel chips, rye chips, peanuts, almonds, cheez-it crackers and gold fish. These are just other options but you really can’t go wrong with the ingredients. As long as the item is crunchy it will probably be great. Have fun with it!

Is Oven Baked Chex Party Mix Spicy?

If you follow my recipe exactly it does have a little kick but not burn-your-lips-off spicy. I don’t like super spicy foods so for me the recipe is perfect. You can always omit the cayenne pepper or reduce the amount to taste.

How To Make Oven Baked Chex Party Mix:

Step 1. Preheat the oven to 250℉ and line a large sheet pan with parchment paper. Use two sheet pans if you don’t have a larger size.

Step 2. In an extra large bowl add all the crunchy party mix ingredients. Gently toss with a large spoon.

Step 3. In a microwave safe bowl add butter and seasonings. Microwave for 1-2 minutes until the butter is fully melted. Give the mixture a stir, then slowly pour over the party mix ingredients. If your super talented, toss the ingredients with a large spoon while you pour the butter mixture. You’ll want to continue to stir the mix for 2-3 minutes. This will ensure all the cereal, crackers, and nuts are coated well.

Step 4. Transfer the mix to the prepared sheet pan and smooth evenly. Place in the oven and bake for 1 hour and 15 minutes, tossing every 15 minutes. Let cool completely before transferring to a sealed container or large bag.

How Long does Homemade Chex party mix last?

Chex party mix will last up to two weeks in an airtight container. This is great because you can make it ahead of time for a party several days later and it will stay fresh. The only down side is you might eat it all before party time.😉

For Extra Toasty Chex Mix:

To get that extra toasty flavor, turn up the heat to 350℉ after the 1 hour and 15 minute baking time. Bake for 4-5 minutes just until the top is a deep golden brown. Remove from the oven, toss, and allow to cool completely before storing.
