BLT Chicken Salad assembled with ranch dressing on the side.

This BLT Chicken Salad was a recipe I tested on my family during the summer months when I knew for sure I could get away with something lighter. To my surprise we all loved it so much that it has been added to our rotation of weekly meal plans.

What we really enjoy about this salad aside from the crunchy lettuce, crisp bacon and juicy tomatoes, is the added chicken. This truly makes it a filling and complete meal that can be enjoyed for dinner or lunch! The creamy ranch dressing is a cinch to make and tossed with all these amazing ingredients gives this salad an extra boost of flavor.

Ingredients For BLT Chicken Salad with Ranch Dressing:

Salad-

  • Iceberg or Romain lettuce
  • Cooked bacon (I used turkey bacon)
  • Tomatoes
  • Cooked chicken breast
  • Red onion

Dressing-

  • Mayo
  • Sour cream
  • Ranch dressing
  • Lemon juice
  • Salt and pepper

Ingredients list. Lettuce, cooked cubed chicken, cooked bacon, tomatoes, onion, and ranch dressing.

How To Assemble BLT Chicken Salad with Ranch Dressing:

  1. Add the lettuce to a large serving bowl then scatter the top with cooked chicken, bacon, tomatoes, and red onion. Serve the dressing on the side so if you have leftovers the lettuce will stay fresh and crunchy.

Could this not be more simple? Basically a 5-ingredient meal that’s easy to throw together anytime! I love recipes like this!

Make Ahead:

This is a fantastic salad to make ahead because the ingredients hold up well and won’t cause the lettuce to wilt. If you want to make this several hours in advance or even the day before, just add the bacon right before serving so it’s nice and crisp.

Short-Cuts:

Use a store-bought rotisserie or pre-cooked chicken breast strips like foster farms grill strips. There are also plenty of great brands that have packaged lettuce so you can skip the chopping for an even faster prep. If you don’t want to cook anything for this BLT Salad you could even purchase pre-cooked bacon bits. With all these convenient short-cuts you could have this salad made in less than 5-minutes!

Additional add-ins:

  • Shredded cheese
  • Fresh avocado
  • Fresh herbs like parsley or dill
  • Croutons
