- Easy to make in under an hour.
- Healthy and wholesome ingredients.
- The perfect soup for cold winter days.
We love chicken noodle soup all year round but it’s obviously a classic cold weather meal that always takes the chill off. Chicken soup is also a great choice if you’re not feeling good because it’s usually loaded with veggies and herbs, and the broth is a great source of electrolytes which helps with hydration.
This Creamy Homestyle Chicken Noodle Soup is like an elevated version of my Hearty Chicken Soup. Lots of chicken, veggies, and noodles, but the broth has a richer, more velvety creaminess that feels a little more elegant to eat. Although, put any bowl of chicken soup in front of me and I will probably love it.
Chicken soup is also the perfect recipe for using up those extra veggies before they expire. Or if you have half bags of frozen vegetables, throw those in too! You really can’t go wrong, just add what you love or have on hand.

Fresh Herbs:
During the warmer months when I have my small garden I love adding fresh herbs to my recipes. If you can get your hands on fresh herbs it really adds a bright fresh flavor to this soup.
Chicken:
This is a perfect recipe to use a rotisserie chicken from the grocery store. Adding a little of the white and dark meat will give the soup great flavor. I also love to make chicken over the weekend in my crock pot with a light seasoning of salt, pepper, and onion powder. I use this meat in my recipes, like this chicken soup, to cut down on my dinner prep.
Noodles:
Any kind of small shaped pasta will work just fine for chicken noodle soup. My favorites include, classic egg noodles, small shells, small bowtie, and broken spaghetti noodles.
Step by Step instructions:
Step 1. Heat a large soup pot or Dutch oven to medium heat. Melt butter and add onions, carrots, celery, potatoes, and garlic. Cook a few minutes until veggies just start to soften.
Step 2. Stir in thyme, rosemary, oregano, and flour. Cook 1-minute.
Step 3. Add chicken broth and Worcestershire sauce. Bring to a medium boil and cook until potatoes are tender.
Step 4. Add cooked chicken and noodles. Cook noodles until al dente. Turn heat down to low and stir in peas, parsley, and half & half. Season to taste with salt. Serve!
