Love is in the air❣ We’ve been baking up all kinds of treats this week and these Peanut Butter Blondies with M&M’s might be our favorite so far. Not too sweet and just the right amount of peanut butter for richness; and candy M&M’s are a special addition for valentines week. Basically, I think they are perfect. 🥰

This recipe is also easy enough to do with your kids. Everything gets mixed in one bowl and the ingredients list is short making this manageable with littles. Plus your kiddos will love adding the fun colorful candy and probably eating them too!



Swap out the candy M&M’s for chocolate chips, butterscotch chips, or even peanut butter chips for the ultimate peanut butter blondie.

Peanut Butter Blondies with M&M’s

Ingredients

  • 1/4 cup melted butter
  • 1/4 cup unsweetened apple sauce
  • 3/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1 1/2 tsp pure vanilla extract
  • 1 egg
  • 1/2 cup creamy peanut butter I used Skippy natural
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup white wheat flour
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1/2 cup M&M's candy, plus more for sprinkling on top
  • non-stick cooking spray

Instructions

Pre-heat oven to 350°F

  • Spray an 8-inch square baking pan with non-stick cooking spray and line with parchment paper, leaving extra for overhang. This will make it easy to remove the blondies.
  • In a medium size mixing bowl whisk first 6 ingredients until smooth.
  • Add flours and salt and stir until almost combined. Add M&M's candy and gently fold until mixture is smooth.
  • Spread evenly in prepared baking pan. Add a few more candy's to the top. Bake for 25-30 minutes until set and golden around the edges.
  • Let cool for 20 minutes before cutting into squares.

Notes

Substitutions-
  1. Replace the candy with chocolate chips, butterscotch chips, or peanut butter chips.
  2. If you like a little texture in your blondie, replace the creamy PB for crunchy PB.
  3. Gluten-free flour blend can be added in place of the all-purpose flours.
  4. Jiffy natural peanut butter an Adam’s no-stir can also be used in this recipe.
 
Storage-
  1. Store in airtight container for up to 4 days at room temperature. 
  2. Freeze in sealed Ziploc bag for up to 3 months. Thaw and enjoy!
 
These can be made a day in advance. Follow all instructions minus preheating the oven. Cover pan with plastic wrap and refrigerate. Pull out 30 minutes before you want to bake. Follow baking instructions above.
