Why you’ll Love Chocolate Layered Lasagna:
- A rich chocolaty dessert for the serious chocolate lover.
- Easy no-bake treat to make.
- Always a hit at gatherings and parties.
- Irresistible Oreo flavors.
For the Oreo lover such as myself, I’m surprised this is the first real Oreo dessert I’ve shared on my website! I’m so glad I choose this one because it truly represents everything I love about chocolaty Oreo flavors. When any dessert starts with a thick layer of Oreo crust I am all in! Can I possibly use the word “Oreo” one more time here, lol. You get the point.
This recipe is awesome for obvious reasons but it’s also fantastic because it doesn’t require any kind of baking or cooking. Just mix, assemble, layer, and enjoy! So easy and crazy delicious!
I have a similar recipe here on my website called Chocolate Heavenly Dessert. Maybe you’ve tried it? It has the same concept as Chocolate Layered Lasagna only I switched out the shortbread cookie crust for the Oreo crust. Both are truly heavenly, must try desserts.
Ingredients:
- Oreo cookies
- Butter
- Cream cheese
- Powdered sugar
- Cool whip topping
- Instant chocolate pudding
- Milk
Gluten-Free Option:
Thankfully there are many options now for gluten-free desserts and more and more brands are making our favorite brand cookies GF. Nabisco has the original and double stuffed available now. Chocolate pudding is also naturally gluten-free so this entire dessert can be enjoyed without changing much.
How to Make Chocolate Layered Lasagna:
Step 1. Start by crushing the Oreos in a food processor (or just use a large Ziploc bag and a kitchen mallet) until fine. Add melted butter and combine until the mixture looks like sand. Spread in a lightly greased baking dish and flatten out in one single layer. Place in the refrigerate while you get the rest of the ingredients together.
Step 2. In a medium size bowl combine cream cheese and powdered sugar until smooth. I use a hand mixer. Gently fold in some whipped cream and set aside.
Step 3. In a large bowl, use your hand mixer to combine chocolate pudding mix with milk. The pudding will start to thicken after about 4 minutes. Allow the pudding to set and thicken for at least 10-minutes before adding to the layers.
Layering Chocolate Lasagna:
Step 4. Start by spreading cream cheese mixture evenly on top of the Oreo crust being careful not to lift the crust. Use a light hand when spreading the cream cheese. Next add the pudding, also spreading in an even layer, then cool whip, and finally more crushed Oreos on top. Place in the refrigerator for at least 1-hour before slicing into squares.
Recipe Tips:
- Make sure the cream cheese is super soft. Even at room temperature I still need to pop my cream cheese in the microwave for 15-30 seconds. You don’t want to melt the cream cheese but you want it to spread easily.
- Make individual desserts cups. This is a fun dessert to make a few individual cups so each person has their own personal treat. I like using cups like these for easy clean up. Just follow the recipe instructions layering a little of each ingredient in a cup.
- Make up to two days in advance. Since this recipe doesn’t require any cooking you can make this ahead up to two days. Top with more crushed Oreos just before serving.
